Chamaedorea adscendens

Chamaedorea adscendens (Chamaedorea adscendens)

Chamaedorea adscendens is beautiful little palm which grows painfully slow. It's native to the Atlantic tropical rainforest of Belize, Honduras. The fronds are thick and velvety and almost satin-like. My plants are putting out their flower spikes now. Photo taken Jan. 14, 2011.

Palmate:

Both of these palms are 5 or 6 years old...they would be possible twice this size if they were planted in the ground.

A clump of that ( I think it was) in a pot and about 4' tall was for sale..$110. Still there!

These plant have gotten much larger, even though they grow slowly. They would be much larger if plante in the ground.
