I would like to cover an old tree stump put the pot on top and have the flower trailing down over the stump.
If so how deep has the pot got to be?

If it's the one I think it is , here in the midlands it's like a weed. It grows in cracks on walls, through paving etc and will spread like mad, but is easily pulled out if it gets too overbearing and flowers for ages so earns its place and is really rather pretty. It also flattens itself against any upright appearing to climb so if you plant it at the base of your trunk it may also cover it from bottom up.

« this plant grows in a pot. It has a grey/greenish small elongated leaf and flowers...
Next question
It'll grow in shallow soil, but needs to spread sideways, so something that's wider than it is deep - say eight inches deep as a minimum. You will need to be very attentive with watering though, and you will need drainage holes in the bottom of the pot.
