i have a row of 18ft leylandi i would like to lower them to approx 16ft would i damage them

My thoughts are that Leylandii can grow 3-5 feet a year so taking 2 feet off will not last long?

Removing 2 foot is not going to give you any difference in height 6 months from now I'd reduce by half at least.
