I have inherited a very overgrown rockery on a very steep slope. How can I get rid of all the grass and weeds?

Thank you for the feedback. I thought that would be the answer, will find it to be patient for that long, but there is plenty more to do elsewhere.

If you intend staying in that garden for a good number of years, Norm, then I would suggest using a glyphospahe weedkiller as often necessary and not planting for a couple of years. Go over it first, though and remove any usable plants. The weeds and grass will have put roots down between and beneath the rocks and you would have to strip the rockery right down to weed it by hand.
