Huckleberries.

Mine have loads of black berries but they are still hard and not much flavour. Is this because of the dismal wet summer we have had? This is the first year I grew these, wondering whether to try again and hope we have a better summer next year. The cape gooseberries were smaller this year too but they did ripen, I had a fantastic crop last year.
