Tell us all if you find out, Ob - it's a lovely one.

I will. It is flowering this year for the first time. We planted it a few years back and the label is now gone. Cannot even remember where we bought it, but the choices are small so, on our next visit (few days I hope) we will see if we can see one in flower at either The Dingle in Welshpool or Bridgemere. It must have come from one of those two. It is very frustrating.

Fantastic, thanks to Bamboo and the Staphylea suggestion I have found out what this shrub is. It is a Staphylea, but not pinnata, it is S. colchica. Wonderful, ta muchly!

So now we know! Is it hardy?

Survived this winter here, which is more than some things have done, so yes hardy to -20c.
