Autumn again and that time of year when the annual battle with worm casts begins in earnest. Now I know that worm activity is good for your lawn, but the castings make such a mess. In the past I've used Castclear with minimal success but this year I've been spraying my lawn every 6 to 8 weeks with Iron Sulphate with the main purpose if increasing the acidity to help control Annual Meadow Grass, but I've also read acidic soil will deter worms and push them lower and reduce castings. It would seem however that my worms haven't read the script and continue to cover my lawn with their deposits. Any ideas?

Thanks for your suggestion Seaburngirl.
I thought of that, but they're very sticky and won't sweep up and to be honest I'd have to do it every day.

Perhaps if you could spread a layer of sharp sand over your lawn from time to time then the casts would dry out and not stick to the moist lawn surface if this makes sense.

Hi Jimmytheone Thanks, I'll give that a go, I'm willing to try anything.

I'd collect them and then use the soil in potting compost. A stiff brush will sweep them up well.
