Been a terrible year for Black spot on my Roses. I read that the disease is passed on by rainwater after the soil becomes infected. I've cleared away the infected leaves as much as possible and was hoping that disinfecting the soil with Jeyes Fluid would do the trick. However I'm now aware that this is no longer a recognised treatment because the formula of JF changed due to EC regulations. I'm thinking if I mulch around each bush with some spent compost I've been saving, then rain can't splash up the infected soil below. Any thoughts or alternative treatments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jimmy. I used Roseclear this year but after the infection started. I'll make sure next year that I start the treatment early.

I would say that you need to spray with Roseclear. Clear the old leaves and destroy them. Spray the roses now and again in the early spring as the fungus can remain on the stems and on any trellis during the winter. Then next spring you need to spray on a regular basis so the roses are protected before they get blackspot.
