I had lost this site with a PC crash but glad to be back again!
I have a leylandii type tree that I got from a hanging basket. I had planted it and kept it well trimmed and shaped. It has been in position by my pond for several years. Imagine my shock to find this when I went for a walk up the garden. Any ideas what could have done it? I do have Muntjack crossing the garden but they have never touched it before. I think this looks fatal!

Hi.
It is about 6-7ft tall. I had kept it closely trimmed to provide a feature rather than let it grow unattended. I think your suggestion is probably right. Muntjack are too small and I haven't seen any bears up there!
Thanks for your reply.
