HONEYDEW MELON SEEDS!!!

I have saved seeds out of a honeydew melon do you think if I plant them, they will germinate to produce fruit??!

They should LadyG. They always do for me..same with cantaloupe and some watermelon. These crops do like to have heat and sun. If you have a greenhouse try them in there growing up a trellis. You can always make hammocks for the fruit out of old stockings. Make sure when you sow them they will not be touched by frost. The melons are usually susceptible to powdery mildew so make sure you have some air circulation in the greenhouse. In the greenhouse you may have to fight spider mites also.
I can grow these outside where I live now as my summers are very hot and dry. When I lived at the coast (which has similar weather to the UK) I didn't have any success outside.
Good luck. If you get some fruit you will be amazed at the difference in taste to the store bought ones.

I planted a few 'Piel de Sapo' melon seeds the other day to see if they would germinate and I the first one popped up this afternoon.

Yes you can give them a try, but not yet. They may not come true. I would not sow them until the end of March, then in the greenhouse.
