If you feel. It you must move it now I suggest you remove all the old leaves. but not the flower buds.. We sometimes do this just to make the plants tidy. They always seem to recover.

Hellebores do not really liked being moved so get as large a rootball as you can and hope it doesn't notice it's been shifted

Andrewr is right ,the bigger the rootball you can lift the better. It can be done Spring or Autumn just make sure you water well before lifting and then planting.

I moved a lot of my H orientalis in autumn and they are all flowering beautifully now. You can carefully divide them at the same time to increase your stock.

I agree Volunteer. I've moved quite a few and never a problem except maybe getting 'knocked back' for a year.

I would suggest moving the hellebore early next winter /late fall Roerta. If it is 3 years old it should be just about flowering even in cold Ontario so let it be for now. Hollies don't like being moved, period, but they are dormant in summer so take a large root ball (lump of soil) with it and do it then.
