Fuchsia berry jam is, to my mind, rather disappointing. It is necessary to add so much pectin in order to get it to set, that the delicate flavour of the fruit is lost. The berries do not contain enough natural pectin.

Fuschia procumbens has large, edible berries. This was demonstrated to us at an autumn flower show by one of the judges as she stood there happily chomping on the berries of our procumbens. Fortunatly she is a good friend and had awarded us a first!
