My bottle brush looks sad!

Norfolk, United Kingdom

the leaves have gone mottled and brownish, but the flower heads seem to be developing well. Should I give it a good prune this year? It is in the sun from about 10.00am - 4.00pm but against a thick hedge so sheltered too.

I note you live in Norfolk - my sister, who lives there too, tells me you've had much more rain than we have in London and it's not been as warm, which must be why your bottlebrush is only just starting to flower, but mine is finished. You can prune it after the flowers are over, but don't go too mad - and give it a feed.

How do I say thanks?
