Reviews and comments on RHS Garden Hyde Hall
Looking to go over the first May bank holiday and looking forward to it as I have just been to the Daffodil day at Wisley and that was good even at this time of year!

Since these comments were made in 2008. Hyde Hall has been considerably upgraded. A new shop and cafeteria. Large well surfaced carpark. A larger garden centre. Plants are rather expensive. Lots of new plantings of trees and extensive flower beds. Hermioni's garden has been redesigned with high caged retaining wall. All the old character gone but a very brave effort nevertheless. The rose walk and herbaceous bays are wonderful. The dry garden has also been extended over the old car park area. It is still a work in progress. The walk up from the car park is quite long and winding. There is a pickup for those less abled. The barn eatery is still there and there is a large space for events and exhibitions now open.

It gets better each time I visit. The dry garden is stunning, especially as it overlooks the wonderfully green, Essex countryside. The shop and garden centre are fantastic now although, as all places like this, rather pricey!
The whole place is wonderful! I would go every weekend if I could but, Mrs Paul won't let me.

We went back to Hyde Hall last week. I was very impressed with the colourful perennial displays in the extensive flower beds all the way up the hill to the Dry Garden. The more recent part of the
Dry Garden is coming on very well indeed. The garden in front of the old farm house was really full of zingy colour. A real treat. The pond-near the house seems to have been cleared of all the lillies that were a bit exuberant when I last went. It seemed stable for a long time. It had huge colourful carp that were very tame and came up to be fed. The overflow grass car park was in nearly full use and families were having picnics in round the edges. So the land is being better utilised, where before one just drove through it.
