I pruned a rose and my Cotinus this morning … does that count? Then I sat in the greenhouse, reading!

It shows willing, Sheila...

12 Mar, 2023

Semi restored....Tuesday is returning to low temps again. Heavy rain tomorrow.

Those Crocus are stunning! I swept up lots of roof moss that had fallen off of the roof ... then OH washed down the polycarbonate roof above the Grapevine ... not gardening but outdoors at least.

I have my mojo back Ange but couldn't do any this weekend as I have been in Nottingham celebrating Victoria's hen do. Had a whale of a time but am looking forward to an early night.

What a lovely difference , our February was a drought , only 1 inch of rain all month. The snow collected into a huge mass of water melted and did some good. I don't like being in cold though. the good weather will come Ange :-))

I hope to get out tomorrow, Meadow, to finish cutting back. The green bin is collected on Tuesday.. I've been put off by the inclement weather so far.

Yes, lots of outdoor jobs to do, Shirley. We have moss to deal with too.

Sounds like a good excuse to me, Sbg. Glad you all had a happy time.

I'm with you about not wanting to work in the cold and windy and wet, Paul. At this rate I won't really get going until April!!

12 Mar, 2023

April's usually okay - my bday month :D

12 Mar, 2023

It seems spring has returned, that's good :)

12 Mar, 2023

I think March looks like a write-off, Paul. Hope next month's birthday is a good one.

Back to wind and rain here again, Hywel...

13 Mar, 2023

Like others, too cold & wet to get going outside, but I have made a start with indoor sowing of Cos lettuce. And hoping to sow the tomato seeds today if life doesn't intervene

Meanwhile, I just look at the Tete a tete daffs at the front and fell spring is just around the corner

13 Mar, 2023

Better than snow and ice Ange :)

13 Mar, 2023

I'm incapacitated, I have another ulcer in my eye so been out of action for over two weeks now, its taking ages to go so can only be outside for a few mins at a time....

13 Mar, 2023

Big difference in 4 days Ange, at least in the right direction.
Lots of lovely crocuses in your photos.
It is not extremely cold here (4 at night and 6-7 during the day) but I am waiting for the double digit temperatures here. OH cleaned the mess from winter storms ( 3 big truckloads) but that is about it. I am starting my seeds inside now but have no desire to work outside yet... even if it is bright and sunny today...

13 Mar, 2023

I, too, have done some inside seeds, GG, some tomatoes (which I have never grown from seed before). They have popped up in the heated propogator and I am not sure now how to harden them off! We have some little 'Tetes', too. So reliable.

Indeed, Hywel.

Oh, that sounds uncomfortable, Lincs. I hope it improves for you very soon.

I know how you feel, Klahanie.

13 Mar, 2023

Ange2, your tomatoes, get them out of the propagator, or at least remove the lid & heat, or they will get very leggy. They need lots of light

On the window sill is OK for now, too early to even think about hardening off, that's a job for late April /May

I sowed my toms yesterday, currently in a poly bag in the airing cupboard

14 Mar, 2023

Thanks for your advice, Gg, which I have taken! I have a few capsicums appearing now, also a first.

15 Mar, 2023

Slowly coming back went out for about 15 mins on Sunday 🙂 not really started cut back yet

15 Mar, 2023

Crikey Ange, you had a right blanket of snow. You’ll be happy it was quick to disappear!
Love your pretty Spring bulbs in bloom! Especially the last pic with those lovely crocus flowers.
I’ve bought several plants, but, desperately wanting to plant them. I’d potted up some tête-à-tête the other day and planted a pine variety. I’m wary as the weather has been unpredictable. The last 2 nights, the temps have dropped low.
We did cut our back garden grass the other weekend, it seems ok. Just getting itchy feet to be out there getting my fingers ‘green’!

15 Mar, 2023

Yes Kate, it’s so frustrating - desperate to be gardening, but the weather isn’t giving us much chance 🙁.

15 Mar, 2023

I have to admit, Kate, I don't have itchy feet at all.. I've been cutting back the dead stuff because it needs doing but I can't work up much enthusiasm.

16 Mar, 2023

D'lily, I'm feeling smug. I finshed the cutting back this morning. A bit of a job in the rain!

17 Mar, 2023

I want to post a pic of my daffs and purple crocus under the Magnolia stellata in full bloom - the highlight of my garden year and I can't find my camera? Growl....
And my washing machine has just died with a full load inside. a pence + b pence = x pence...

17 Mar, 2023

Ahh you've made me a bit more enthusiastic now I've got the week after next off work so hoping to get stuck in and maybe do a bit this weekend :-))

17 Mar, 2023

Such strange weather Ange, March many weathers. You've some lovely crocus there, they're always so cheering..:)
I've half mojo back, absolutely jiggered all the time, but I did plant two new roses yesterday. I'll put the photos on later. I hope you feel more hopeful for spring soon, the shingles on my head and eye are still playing up, but at least going the right way now..x

19 Mar, 2023

Oh, I'm glad you're on the up, Janey. Shingles is such a horrid thing. I won't be able to be lethargic for long, I'm sure. Needs must!

I expect you have many plans, D'lily. I have too, but the ground is so wet still. Lots coming through and I can't remember what half of it is!

Stera - what a nuisance. I'm sure your flowers are a picture.
There's nothing more annoying than having washing stuck in the machine. It's such a palaver to get it out. I hope all is resolved by now.

19 Mar, 2023

This March is getting annoyingn Ange, snow now endless cloudy weather . dullest March I ever known, lying BBC forecasted sun today lol

19 Mar, 2023

I agree with you, Paul. I want a break in the sun! (I may not come back!)
