I hope you are all managing to find comfort in your gardens,in this time of self isolation. So far,we are quite happy in this lovely weather, and grateful we have the luxury of a garden,to spend time in,unlike some people..

A few photo’s of mine today.

The first one is of one of my Euonymous,‘Emerald and Gold’ shrubs..which I have been practising on,in case I need to take up Hairdressing skills ! Lol..what do you think..a basin type cut maybe ? ha ha.

In the meantime, stay safe, and let’s hope we can get on with our lives in some kind of normality,at some point soon..xxx

Oh the colour of the Euonymous is beautiful!

We have 9 degrees here in Northumberland, with heavy cloud - enjoy your lovely weather for us!

Sandra, what a good job you've done on the Euonymous! The Vidal Sassoon of the gardening world ... :o)

Pots of Pansies look lovely.

Thank you Sunnydais..I love the new foliage on Euonymous too ,so springlike :o) We have been lucky here,as although it's been quite cloudy,it's still been warm..it's forecast a frost for tomorrow night though !

Thank you Paul, and I hope you are having a nice Easter too.:o) x

Ha ha,Shirley..my sister in law,has had to close her salon, like everyone else, but I don't think Vidal Sassoon would have approved, especially if I use my Secateurs to do a quick trim! I certainly won't be posting a photo of the results,if I have a go..! lol xx

Thanks Sandra and Happy Easter to you and Russell. Your garden looks lovely with all the different shrubs.
Take care and keep safe ! xx

Bloomer, lovely pics! I agree, the euonymus looks illuminous! Vivid colour, it looks really well placed next to the purple flowering plant - sorry I’m not sure what it is. Looks pretty together though.

Your blog made me smile. the garden is looking wonderful, such rich colours and I bet that Skimmia smells divine.

Wow! The Honesty in front of the Euonymus looks so startlingly bright! Wonderful! Happy Easter. Yes, we are truly privileged to have our gardens. I have been out all day scarifying, watering and weeding. Light rain is now watering everything I missed.

Thank you Rose,I hope you and Rick have had a nice Easter too..I think all our gardens are looking lovely and colourful
this year, and hope you are safe and well too.xx
..............
Thank you Kate. It's my favourite shrub, that's why I have five of them, all from cuttings.:o) The purple plant is usually known as Honesty, which you will probably know,is well used in decorative flower arrangements, once the green leaves drop off,to leave papery pearly white ones underneath ? so pretty in the garden too ..correct name is Lunaria,I believe.. I've spent many an afternoon, peeling the green ones off..how sad is that ? ha ha.
............
Glad it made you smile,Sbg,and thank you...we need all the smiles we can get right now, don't we ? That border is always at it's best in spring,it seems.,and I can see it from my kitchen window. You are correct, the Skimmia does have a lovely perfume:o)
..............

Thank you Karen..I have quite a lot of Honesty this year,as I just let it seed itself for that reason..but how it got into the back garden as well,I've no idea ! anyway,it's very welcome..:o) And we have light rain here too..not before time,as everything is so dry.My water butts are half empty already, this year.,but I'm not complaining about the wonderful weather we have had lately :o) x

Yes its been amazing hasn't it? But the ground is like concrete now. Lovely lot of colour there Sandra. Agree, that honesty looks gorgeous in front of of the Euonymus!

Hi Sandra...well what else can I say..the colours in your garden really zing! Those pansy pots are just lovely too, I love the blue/green one....

Thanks Bloomer, I see it now..Honesty. It’s lovely! I’m pleased you mentioned the euonymus, I’ve a few in the garden, but, this one of yours is a really gorgeous colour..I’ll have to try some cuttings too!

Your garden photos are just delightful Bloomer and your Euonimus is so eye catching. I think it has been shaped perfectly - mind you, from you I would expect nothing less! The colours you have out there are a wonderful blend of optimism and joy, the pansies in the pots just make me smile.A truly lovely garden.

Lol you took me back when I was a kid with mentioning the basin cut thats how mum use to cut our hair I still have the photo but to big to upload being an old photo. Nooo its better than the basin cut Sandra and it looks great your garden looks colourful and wonderful .
Hope you and your family have a lovely Easter.

I'm sure you will be successful in taking cuttings from your Euonymous too,Kate.they seem to root quite quickly.I know there are a lot of different varieties, but I only have the Emerald and Gold one,but a few neighbours have some which are really nice too..good luck :o)

Thank you so much,Chris, for your kind comments...I'm pleased you approve of my trimming skills !we may possibly have to resort to drastic measures to our own hair,in the present situation !The pansies and Viola's have done really well this year, the best they have been for a couple of years.I'm sure you are just as happy with your lovely garden too .xx

Yes,some memories of those awful haircuts, back in the day ! Thank you for your nice comment, and glad you enjoyed my spring border at Eastertime.and hope you had a nice Easter too..At least we had lovely weather...:o)

13 Apr, 2020

Your very welcome Sandra yes I hope the nice weather lasts.

13 Apr, 2020

That's looking great Sandra, I'm very impressed with the shape. Have you thought about trying your hand at topary? The purple Honesty amongst the daffodils looks particular pretty. I had a go at cutting my own hair last week...not a good idea, I'd have done better with a knife and fork ha,ha!

14 Apr, 2020

Thank you Stera,we had a bit of rain two nights ago,but it didn't make a lot of difference, but everything seems to be surviving ok so far.. I try and leave the seeds of the Honesty where they fall, till they appear again next year, then I select the ones I want to leave in situ.I seem to have more than usual this year, but I'm not complaining .:o)

Thank you for your lovely comment Janey, and glad you like the planting, also the green/blue pot..it is part of a set of three, from over 20 years ago..My friend worked for Asda, and she got me this colour, and she had a different one,for the grand price of £ 5 per set ! One of the best buys ever .ha ha.I hope you had a nice Easter too, enjoying this lovely weather ..xx

14 Apr, 2020

Thank you Julia, and no,I haven't tried Topiary.,but when I try to cut my hair, which I will need to before long,it could end up looking like it ! ha ha..I may need to try the knife and fork first,on a dummy run ! lol ..I love this combo of the Daffs and Honesty too,not planned,I may add.more good luck ..xx

14 Apr, 2020

Funny isn't it how nature comes up with lovely combinations, almost without trying? I can lend you a blunt knife if you're stuck when you cut your hair. :))

15 Apr, 2020

Thanks for the offer. lol .I think I may have one or two of my own.I :o) x

Gardening is such a comforting aggravation! :) This isolation is likely to change our society forever, but I hope people are thinking about how it will change. We probably don't want to end up like the outworlders in Isaac Asimov's The Naked Sun!

17 Apr, 2020

A lovely symphony of purple and yellow, the wonderful colours of spring. Your garden is always so neat, now after the flattery ....any chance of a haircut? :-))

25 May, 2020

Thank you Ba,and they are my favourite colours at any time of year..now then,my dear..I HAVE had a go at cutting my hair ..just at the sides and a bit off the front.,and I can highly recommend my OH for trimming the stray bits at the back ! lol.The bathroom scissors did a better job than a blunt knife ! lol. even my sister in law,(Hairdresser) approved, but maybe she was just being tactful ! :o) x

25 May, 2020

Sandra, I didn't know Russell had the same talents as his sister lol! If things continue you'll be doing her out of a job between you!

25 May, 2020

Well, there you go Julia ! lol.I'll send him over, when social distancing ends .ha ha.I'm sure Richard would repay him with a nice cup of coffee :o) x

25 May, 2020

It's a deal lol!!

26 May, 2020

Actually, I've been cutting Richard's hair since the lock down. He now owes me £6. As you see, he's used to going to highclass barbers lol!

26 May, 2020

Don't forget to add a tip to those charges ! Depending on how generous he is,it might surprise you...and I'm sure I know the answer to that one !! Lol.x

26 May, 2020

Lol!! I've just been knocking it off the price of a decent bottle of wine. 😂😂
