After the coldest night so far,I’m amazed my garden still looked quite good this morning.!
The Dahlias, especially. The flowers are getting smaller now,but still plenty to come..hopefully ..

A view of the front Border ,with last years overwintered Pelargoniums, which I’ve already taken some cuttings from, and I shall be lifting the best ones, and repotting them again for next year.I will hopefully get a 3rd year from them, being a ’’ thrifty "Yorkshire lass ! lol .

Some of you may remember the Choisya ‘Sundance ’ at the top of the photo, which was given the ’Chelsea Chop’,or butchered ,a few years ago ?..and look at it now.who would have thought it ??? least of all me .lol

Lastly,a special Fuchsia, called ‘Lena’,which was gifted to me a few years ago, from Steragram ,(Sue)when mine died .It was very sentimental,as it had been a gift from my late mum,so once again,I am so happy she is doing so well, and the memory lives on :o)

I hope all our gardens continue to keep on flowering for a while yet, ,even though we have the Autumn Colours to enjoy .stay safe everyone..xx

very nice Bloomer , well presented garden view , lots of colour still . Always like autumn as a season

Thank you Julia. I have loved having Dahlia's this year for a change, and I haven't had any Slugs /snails on them at all,so that was a bonus :o)

Looking good. I especially like the first pic, with the blue/green fence, sets of the planting a treat. Wish someone (OH) would do my fences, but impossible to access them. Lena is a stunner.

Thank you Paul,I've been pleased with it this year, and also enjoy the Autumn too :o)

Thank you Siris,The colour on the fence is called Sage, and a shame your OH can't get to yours.I agree,Lena is a lovely Trailing Fuchsia, and hardy, but I do take it into the shed over winter now, just in case .I would hate to lose it again..

I'd love to see your garden Sandra, but alas I'm not able to see any pictures what so ever at the moment. It's very strange as this is the case on all my devices. ☹️ Xx

Everything has lasted so well for you Sandra and looks lovely and seems settled to stay for even longer!
The fuschia is really beautiful and I love the way it grows.
Your pelargonium cuttings will be lovely next year. Ours have to survive in the green house which is OK unless it is a very cold, persistent winter - what a thought !!

Oh dear,Julia,I do hope you can get it sorted before too long.how Frustrating ! So it's not just on Goy then ?x

27 Sep, 2020

Thank you Chris,it's nice to still be able to enjoy it from our Window, and fingers crossed it lasts for a little while yet..The Fuchsia has been at it's best this year, and I have never seen it for sale anywhere else,so I was delighted when Steragram sent me a rooted cutting:o)
The one I had previously, was bought from a GC in Castleton,Derbyshire ,on a day out with my mum,in the 70's..so it's one of the old varieties.x.

Its always a treat to see into your lovely garden Sandra, everything still looking healthy and happy, the dahlia's seem to be having a very good season as are lots of others, saying that some don't even know what season it is, like you I'm hoping to hang onto the colour as long as is possible, I've always got my deadheading fingers ready, lol, just realised that I used to have a variegated geranium like yours and now haven't, your fuschia is a beauty, mine have been very slow., methinks someone doesn't feed enough..

Gorgeous! 🌺

27 Sep, 2020

Your garden looks amazing Sandra you wouldn't think it was autumn it looks so lush and colourful ,I'm envious x

27 Sep, 2020

Thank you Sue,I've been using my dead heading fingers this afternoon too,but not much to do at the moment,so more of a potter, really. It's been glorious sunshine and so warm.Unbelievable how quickly it changed from this morning.. I'm not as good at remembering to feed either,so I buy those pellets to add to the compost when I'm ready to plant out, which last for 6 weeks..after that,it's when and if ! lol x

Thank you Amsterdam..:o)
....

I can see it!! Everything looks in tip top condition. Lena is spectacular. What a lovely way to remember your mum.

Do you leave the potted plants out all winter and if so, do you protect them in anyway?

27 Sep, 2020

Thank you so much,Amy,I am living in hope they keep going,as there are still lots of buds on the Dahlias, and Zinnias.I have Wallflowers and Bellis waiting to be planted out,in some of the pots,so they will have to wait till they are finished.x

27 Sep, 2020

Yippee,Julia,I see you too ! lol.I'm glad you like Lena,a very special Lady :o)I move the Fuchsia in it's pot, into the shed over Winter, and throw some fleece over, when all the foliage has dropped, although it is a hardy one,but the pot isn't frost resistant..Neither are most of the others, but I did risk leaving them out last year,it being a mild one.I have put them in a cold frame some years.I shall risk them out again this year,as I want to plant them up..x

Lots of vibrant colour in your garden to still enjoy,
Bloomer. It looks very well manicured and loved. :-)

27 Sep, 2020

Thank you Kate.both the back and front gardens, are quite small,so they are quite easily managed, which was the intention, when we retired. I'm amazed I can find so much to do in it.Definitely a labour of love. :o)

27 Sep, 2020

Your garden is lovely Sandra, very colourful still ...
I think shrubs benefit from having a good 'haircut' every so often, they can grow back better than they were before.
Your dahlias are doing well in pots. I've never tried that so maybe next year I will.

28 Sep, 2020

Thank you Hywel, and I do try to keep them in trim,as I hate seeing straggly bits :o) I'm amazed how well the Dahlia's have been, and think with the pots being stood on Gravel, has been the saviour they need from slugs and snails.I haven't found one in the pots all summer..There are few little holes on the Foliage now,but not sure what has caused those, but they are still flowering well, with new buds still appearing..Weather this coming week, might put a stop to that, but I've had my money's worth ,so I can't complain :o) x

28 Sep, 2020

That looks very pretty many of my plants have lost there flowers now so not so colourful.

29 Sep, 2020

Thank you,Numpty,I think today might be their last decent day, before the weather changes tomorrow,so I shall be making the most of enjoying them.:o)

29 Sep, 2020

Sorry I missed this, don't know how really! Your gardens, both front and back, are looking in tip-top condition Sandra. Isn't that Fuchsia gorgeous? We had lunch out today and there was a table reserved for Lena, didn't see your Fuchsia though!!

29 Sep, 2020

No problem,Shirley,I miss lots ,and no idea how either ! At the moment everything is still looking nice, but I've lifted a few Pelargoniums I want to keep for next year, and it's been a beautiful day,so it's been ideal..I would have smiled if I had seen that table reservation, lol xx

29 Sep, 2020

Your garden looks beautiful Sandra and it’s immaculate. I’ve missed so many gardening posts this year I was beginning to forget what my friends gardens looked like!!!

30 Sep, 2020

Thank you Sheila,I have had all the time in the world to spend in it this year, due to the current situation, and I know you have done so much in yours this year too, which is wonderful. :o) You might have plenty of time to catch up now,so looking forward to seeing more from you in the coming months :o)

30 Sep, 2020

Sandra, I did think of your Fuchsia when I saw the sign!! It's not a name you hear often these days ...

30 Sep, 2020

It isn't very common these days,Shirley, but give it time,as a lot of the older names seem to have come around again now ..some I like, and some I don't :o).

30 Sep, 2020

Sandra, as a child I used to go to the village butcher's shop with Mum. You would choose your meat, get it wrapped and then go to a little booth where Lena would take the payment. I thought it was Leaner, as in a cut of meat ...

30 Sep, 2020

Your garden looks wonderful, Bloomer! I like the way you have the pots of Dahlias arranged - very lovely!

My poor Dahlias have had a very bad time with the winds this year & I've had very few flowers! :(

That Fuchsia looks fantastic!

30 Sep, 2020

Oh Shirley, that made me laugh !.We have all been there,at some point, I think ..ha ha.The only Lena's I remember are "Zavaroni ",and "Horne " ! I've led a very sheltered life ,:o) x

30 Sep, 2020

Thank you Balcony, you are very kind. I usually group these pots together, with it only being a small Circular area,as I can get around them easily, plus, they seem to shelter each other too,if it's wild and windy.

Sorry to hear your Dahlia's have been poor this year,so I feel lucky that mine have done so well.Pleade you like the Fuchsia too,she is rather lovely, isn't she ? :o)

30 Sep, 2020

Blimey Sandra, they are both blasts from the past! :o)

30 Sep, 2020

They certainly are,Shirley, and I never cared for either of them ! :o)
