Thank you Shirley,it isn't often I sow seeds these day,so I'm glad they were successful all the other summer bedding was bought,but it's all done well :o) .

Truly lovely dahlias which are such a pretty shape with those little curly petals here and there. You have a perfect mix of colours there too. Gorgeous!!

Thank you Kate,it really is a gorgeous colour,isn't it? I like to put most of my pots together,and a 'mingle' is a word I like to use too :o) I think when they are all spread out,they don't have the same effect,and with it only being a small area,I can have lots :o).

Thank you Rose,and Julia..Janey said hers grew to a height of 3/4feet ,so mine might do yet,but I staked them last week,when the bad weather was forecast..The Red one,which is a single,was much shorter but bushier,casting my mind back to last year .I'll have to see if they do reach that height,but luckily,I bought some new taller canes last week :o) Whatever happens,hopefully, I'm prepared ! Lol x

They are all lovely Sandra, great selection of colours, your pots look amazing, as you already know I love a mingle, the more the merrier I say..
I had some smashing dahlias last year, I did save the seeds but only one was viable, muggins then treated herself to three new ones and popped them in the big bed, no proper labels but they turned out to be dwarf, no problems one would think, except most of my dahlia's did come up again, which is good, they are huge, some are under the Photina, we went weeks without rain so I didn't move them, they will flower eventually, however the new dwarf ones are swamped amongst the tall ones, lol, oh the joys of gardening, we have had a lot of rain now so I can now move them, its all good fun isn't it....

We have finally had one heavy shower today,but nowhere near enough.Water Butts empty for the 3rd time this year ! Hope you managed to move the Dahlia's.xx

I have several on the balcony with buds about to open. They came from a free pack of seeds with 'Gardeners' World' mag 3 or 4 years ago. I been able to keep the tubers alive for the last several winters & get them to flower once again! 😃 They are called 'Bishop's Children'. I've got 4 pots of them.

Thank you Balc,and pleased you have managed to keep yours over the past winters.I shall try my best to save some of these too,but if not,I'll save seeds as a back up :o).I don't seem to have much luck in saving Tubers,even though I store them as suggested,and keep a check on them periodicallyI only managed to save the Red single,from last year..

Sandra, I had a go at growing Delphiniums from seed this year, just for fun really. The seeds were from an original parent plant in our garden. I now have about 20 small plants with some really healthy foliage. I will overwinter in an insulated cold frame and look forward to seeing what happens next year.

I said I had finished with growing anything from seed. All that pricking out, potting on etc not to mention the cost of compost and cosseting them through the cold months. Now thanks to you lot, especially you Sandra, I'm considering taking over the little greenhouse...once the OH has taken out his tomato plants. :-))

Well done,Alan, it's great when they grow well isn't it? Years ago,I bought some Delphinium seeds from a grower,at Chelsea flower show,and he advised me to keep the seeds in the fridge over winter,which I did.They were wonderful for a few years,but the dreaded slugs won the battle,eventually ! :o(

Famous last words Julia ! lol .How many times have I said that ? You will have to have a'his and 'hers' equal share, of your Greenhouse space, like we do in the shed ! lol ..well ,mine is more quarter than half,but plenty for me :o) x

UPDATE; Richard's tomato plants have all succumbed to the dreaded blight. He's gutted. :-((

Oh no,what a shame :o( It's so demoralising ,when you have nurtured them for so long,isn't it? I know how he must be feeling.Only one thing for it,you will have to take over the little growhouse now ! :o)x

Waddy, it's a real shame about the tomato plants suffering from blight! 😞 It happened to me one year on the allotments, I had dozens of plants all with tons of fruit but I could hardly save a single plant! 😞 I was really gutted! 😞 😞 😞

On the balcony I grow tomatoes every year & they have never had the dreaded blight, except one year, (may have been the same year I lost all my tomatoes on the allotment, I don't remember now). The secret seems to be not to let the leaves get wet. The blight spores need wet leaves on which to grow & infect a plant. Other than that my plants have no protection & I've never used a fungicide on them - unlike the plants on the allotment.

Hope he doesn't give up & tries again next year. 👍

Blooming (haha) heck Sandra wow, you have done very well with the seeds! I'm so pleased they've grown into such pretty dahlias for you.
The shaggy curly peach one is lovely isn't it and that is like it's parent. Saying that, the plainer ones are too and where did the gorgeous pink one come from???
So the the shaggy peach one probably had parents of a single yellow and the spikey pink.
And mine this year hasn't turned out well at all fancy that!
Ian always grew Dahlias from seeds every year and did very well with them, think I'll give them a try too next year..:)) x

Bloomer; I couldn't take over the little GH just yet, it would be like jumping in his grave...if you get my drift! I think we might buy another one then he can have his own without me breathing down his neck to nick his. :-))

Balcony; He's already talking about what variety he will try next year, so I don't think he's giving up just yet.

That's good! 👍 Hope he does have more success! I'm harvesting my 9 plants & have already got about 2 kilos! I just had a couple this afternoon & they are delicious! 👍 100% germination! Even the 2nd year! (9 seeds from May 2020! 👍
