This is one of three Penstemons, from Hywel, which I love.Sorry,I can only read on the label, that this variety is ‘Arctic ……possibly ’White’ ? but my memory fails me,as the last part has worn off,. Lol. A Beautiful White one, with much daintier flowers than most, and it is quite tall. so thank you Hywel and for the two purple ones ,you sent which look very similar to ‘Blueberry Fudge’ gifted by Amy2 some years ago ? You did mention that Amy had sent you some cuttings of this variety, so I presume they were from our mutual friend, originally ! Lol.Those have just been cut back, but new growth is appearing,so no photo at the moment..

The Carnations either side ,are cuttings I took from a bunch of flowers from Morrisons supermarket, and have just started to open fully.:o) .

This is one of two, I bought recently from the same supermarket reduced to Β£1 each…This is called ‘Pink Phoenix’ ..:o) Who doesn’t love a good bargain ! :o)

Still plenty of colour to be seen and enjoyed,so fingers crossed for a frost free Autumn .

Enjoy your gardens ,everyone.:o) x

I love Penstemons Sandra! I will have to move mine though as where they are in the garden, do not get full sun and are very leggy!
You have a good collection of pots there !

My goodness Sandra what a beautiful display. Your garden is still positively bursting with colour.
Shirley-Tulip sent me a cutting of a Penstemon, but she didn't say which one it was. However it's thriving along with two others, Snow-Storm and an unnamed variety which was just crying out for some TLC. Your bargain from Morrisons is a beauty and not at all like you to spot a bargain lol!
Aren't you clever taking cuttings from your bunch of Carnations? I must try that.
What is the plant around your birdbath please?

Lovely to still see some autumn colours in your garden, Bloomer! The bright orange of the Calendulas really zing out at this time of the year, don't they? πŸ˜ƒ

The Penstamons are lovely as well, especially the bargain one! πŸ‘ I was given one about 3 years ago but it soon died & I haven't had any more since. 😞

Many years ago I took a few cutting from some red Carnations our daughter bought for her mum. These rooted easily & I had plants from them for many years. Unfortunately a couple of years ago the last one died.

This year on my wife's birthday I bought her a couple of bunches of Spray Carnations. There were lots of shoots that I was able to use for cutting many of which rooted. Unfortunately they became covered in aphids & when I realised (they were in a bit of a hidden location on the balcony!) I sprayed them with Neem oil but it seems they didn't like it & all, except one, also died on me! 😭 That one is still growing but I will have to wait till next year to see what colour it will be.

Thank you Rose, Penstemons are one of my favourites too,and so far,all been hardy. I'm sure if you replant them in full sun, they will be fine..I wonder if "Grows on you ",refers to the number of pots we collect over the years ? lol .I have a few more, who haven't made an appearance this summer,as they have spring bulbs in them ,so they are waiting in the wings,,till it's their time to be centre stage ! Lol.x ..
...........
Thank you Julia,it's not all grim 'oop North' is it ? ha ha.It was strange how the bargains just seem to make a beeline for my trolley, plus there are a couple more that joined them, mainly those two Osteospernums ,either side of the bird bath, which you asked about? also the Orange one in another photo .I do have another of those, but it's out of shot.. all only Β£1 each..you must be shopping in the wrong supermarket,my dear Lol .xx

...........
Oh ,thank you ,Julia (.M.land )...not to be confused with Julia in the comment above ! Lol. I shall bring it into the Conservatory when the weather changes,as I don't want to lose it. The staging from my old growhouse,is in place, with a few potted up Fuchsia's in residence already :o) x
.......
Thank you Balcony, the orange flower isn't a Calendula ,it's a Osteospernum, but I agree, they do look similar. my neighbour has had a lovely display of those,so I may beg a few seed heads for next year :o)
What a shame your Carnations got attacked by Aphids, they must have known they had found a good hiding place in the corner :o) I will try to save mine, and if not,I can always buy another bunch ! Lol..oh,by the way, The huge leaves on the Amaryllis ,are definitely looking sorry for themselves ,since I stopped watering about two weeks ago ? Next stage, they are going to sleep in a dark place for a while :o) I hope I'm doing it correctly. :o)

It's called 'Arctic Fox' Sandra :)
I thought the other two were different colours lol, they should have been ...

Your garden doesn't look like autumn at all, it's still as colourful as mid summer :)

Ah,I remember now, thank you for that,Hywel. :o) One is definitely similar to the one Amy gave me,and now I'm thinking, the other may be one of my own cuttings I took last year, of which I have about four? ..I do have one which hasn't flowered yet which is hiding among a pot of Petunias. Oh darn it ! Anyway,I shall let you know ,when and if it flowers, and I can solve the mystery .lol. Thank you for your lovely comment,it's been a good gardening summer :o) x

Wow Sandra, your garden looks like summer! Mine is pathetic, jut a few odds and ends still functioning, and my trusty begonia semps. Your pink Penstemon is gorgeous. Are they fairly short lived? I had several and am now down to two, alas. Your dahlias are great - how do you keep the slugs off ? I've given up on them...

12 Oct, 2021

Thank you Sue, I always have lots of Begonia Semps, too, most are in the front borders, and I have one pot of them on the Gravel ,with the other pots..I love them :o)
The pink Penstemon has only just started to flower ,but I shall take cuttings hopefully, and I might even pot it up,as I'm not sure if it will be hardy or not. I shall also pot the White one up from Hywel.. The others which Amy 2 gave me,have survived the last 6 or 7 years ?

The Dahlia's were from seeds kindly gifted from Janey, so I've been very lucky ,as the slugs seem to have bypassed them for some reason ! I don't seem to get many slugs or snails, .. maybe something I said to offend ?? lol .x

12 Oct, 2021

Will you please say it to the slugs in my garden Sandra , they don't take any notice of me :D x

13 Oct, 2021

Ha ha ,Hywel,I've just sent them a text message,to tell them not to mess with your plants, .or I'll send the Yorkshire heavies down ..That should scare them off ! Lol xx

I wage a constant war with the blighters also. How lovely to not have the problem. I agree with the others, that your garden still looks like summer. I like the shade you have painted your fence too. Looks really nice.

Haha Sandra :D xx

Thank you Feverfew, I ,like most gardeners, used to have the usual problems with slugs and snails, so I decided to gradually replace with plants they don't attack,as I was fed up of losing so many, and it felt like a waste of time ,money and effort.I must say, that I do still add the occasional pellets in pots, with plants I know are susceptible, i.e.the Dahlies, but in the borders,I seem to have won the battle..almost! just the odd nibble on foliage :o).
The fence shade is called Sage. one of the well known makes of garden fence colours. We have had it the same colour for almost 20 years, still not fed up of it ! :o)

Well Sandra, all is still looking very colourful, I love the white Penstemon, so dainty and pretty, and the pink is gorgeous! So pleased you've enjoyed the dahlias, how they've come out for you. I'm drying off seeds now from mine, I do hope I get a pink one too like you did..:))

14 Oct, 2021

Have to say, what fabulous, cheerful colour you have! It’s an array of gorgeousness, Sandra! Your photos are very uplifting. Your penstemon gift is a beauty!

14 Oct, 2021

Thank you Janey,Your Dahlias have been amazing, and I never imagined they would be so prolific ! There are still lots of buds ,so I'm hoping a change in the weather won't put an end to them yet.:o(..I could try and save seed from the pink Dahlia for you,if you like ? x

Thank you Kate, you are so kind.I shall miss looking out on all the colours each day,but each season has it's own beauty,in one way or another, doesn't it? I shall protect the White Penstemon over winter,as I would hate to lose it.It really is different ,and special :o) .

Thank you Paul,I've been really pleased with it this year. Bought a big bunch of Wallflowers today,so I'll be planting some in pots, once the Dahlia's have finished flowering..:o)
