Jack Frost Came Calling....

We’ve had a few nights of frost now. It hasn’t melted away during the day, in spite of the lovely sunshine and still air. It has lingered and built up on the north facing slopes.

I hope you have all survived storm Angus. I’m glad he didn’t travel up to his home county!

Stay cosy everyone and I hope you get some lovely sunshine today :)

Hi Karen ..
lovely photos ... the frost made everything so pretty.

Stiff frost there, Karen, but doesn't it look pretty.

It certainly is pretty. Id much rather have this than wind and rain. :)

my word that's what I call a heavy frost!! have to admit it looks wonderful!!
We had the wind and some very heavy rain last night, no damage so far!! at least it is filling the water butt, and the container for the new water feature... something to be thankful for!

great photos ... you did have a heavy frost.

Friday it was a white out here with a massive hailstorm and lightening even the street lighting came on early 2.30PM that how dark it went ...

Glad to hear that Angela...I was concerned for you and for Shirley! But looking at the forecast today it seems to have swirled all over the eastern side of the country. We have had wonderful still weather, which I love :)

Sounds very threatening GG!

Wow Karen, that's a hard frost, dull and wet here. I imagine your Alstroemeria look like mine now, limp and black, I need to cut them down and mulch.

amazing how different it looks in the frosts...

Yes Dawn...they will surely blacken once the frost lets go of them. At the moment, everything has the 'candied' look!

Thanks Sandra :)

Karen it looks amazing, I love the view across the pond and over the hedge uphill to the woods, the frost has given it a completely different look, the autumn colours and Jack Frost look absolutely magical, would make a fabulous jigsaw..Hope your fingers and tootsies didn't suffer too much whilst you were snapping away..Gone in my favs..

Thats true Ll...the view is really altered by the frost. And because that hill in front of us has a northerly aspect, it stays frosty on there for a long time when it arrives. I have reorganised the furniture in our living room so we can sit and look at the view. Its lovely, as its almost like having my conservatory back, only with much nicer views! I keep falling asleep looking on to that view as the sun sets...bliss! Thank you for adding it to your favourites!

how lovely I hope it will not bring too much damage, herewe dont get frosts like that anymore

Hmmm...I am worried about my water feature. I thought it would be ok as its on the house wall, south facing. But last night must have been extreme for here, as it froze solid. Inside the heated greenhouse it was -2.4C which is not great, although the plants all look fine. Pond is frozen about an inch deep......winter is HERE in Eastern Scotland! Off to take in the water feature and hope it will be ok next year.

Everything looking lovely rimed in frost. We've only had one slight one down here in Surrey. Today so dark, damp & overcast that it was nice to view your pics. Dark days get me down!

I love these photos Karen ... puts a different perspective on all the foliage.

We thought we had escaped any damage from storm Angus, sadly not as the roof felt on the summer house was flapping around three days ago! All repaired now, thanks to OH and our son. :o)

Ah..glad you didnt get any worse Shirley! The frost had gone this morning, but there was still an inch of ice on the pond and the dog bath!
