July

Usually, in Scotland, July tends to be wet and cool. Scotland is always cool when the sun isn’t shining! But 2018 has been quite different so far and promises to continue (at least for the next week or so) to be a beautiful sunny and warm month.

Today we have had a visit from an excellent Scottish Garden Photographer called Ray Cox. He is from Glendoick and you will have seen his photographs in The English Garden magazine amongst other places. His work is excellent and I am very excited to see the results. This got me inspired to take a few shots myself after he had gone away. Ray’s photographs will hopefully appear in ‘Scotland On Sunday’ towards the end of July. Hopefully a few more visitors will come as a result. Time will tell.

So, here are my efforts. Not wonderful, but its tricky without all the equipment and training that comes with being a pro! Especially in such lovely bright sunshine…but I’m not complaining! :)

Lovely Karen, your garden is becoming very popular, it's hard to believe the short time it's taken you to get it to this level. Lots of colour, I think my favourite picture is Scott in the hammock with the dogs.

Your garden is absolutely beautiful! You deserve a professional to take photo's to do your garden justice! I love your succulents on your blue table- I might try something similar.

Thanks Angela, Callie and Amsterdam. Its so beautiful I must admit. Its everything I dreamed of. Especially after the dire disappointment of last years grim dark grey summer. This year it has really come good. The Roses....unbelieveable. I’ve never seen such incredible roses. And at this time of year it is still getting better every day. I am watering a LOT!

Thank you Sue and GF. Sue...I have your Erodium here waiting to be posted...sorry I keep forgetting. We are very busy viewing wedding venues at the moment! But I’ll get it done soon.

Lovely images, Karen, and as usual I am green with envy when I see your cosy pod! It looks as comfortable as a Hobbit house.

Roses and clematis seem to have revelled in the weather. The latter have never done well for us but we have had some glorious blooms this year.

Like you I am watering a lot, but only the back garden. Sadly my OH is ill.

It all looks wonderful: I'm not surprised you're getting published. Wishing you weren't so far away! I've been trying to take some photos, but everything looks so bleached in this bright sunlight.

You have worked incredibly hard to achieve perfection in your garden. You deserve all the plaudits including having your garden photographed by Ray Cox. Is your daughter not considering having the marriage ceremony in the garden rather than in church? I cannot think of a more romantic venue.

Thank you so much Scotsgran Sheila! No, she isn't! Can you imagine 8 fully dress-uniformed sevicemen with their swords drawn forming a guard of honour down the lawn? lol....it would certainly be something to see! :)
