Escallonia 'Red Dream'

Species: Escallonia 'Red Dream'.
Escallonia 'Red Dream' is a dense, rounded evergreen shrub, with tiny, glossy oval shaped leaves. Leaves have a wavy margin. Flowers are red, small, tubular, and are produced all over the shrub in early summer. Escallonia 'Red Dream' has particular resistance to salty air, making an excellent boundary plant for coastal gardens. Its overall shape means it can also provide structure to the border in winter months. Thrives in a sunny site, with moist, but well-drained soil. Not a plant for cold, exposed situations.
