Styrax japonicus 'Marley’s Pink Parasol' (J L Weeping) - japanese snowbell

Position: full sun or partial shade
Soil: fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained, neutral to acidic soil
Rate of Growth: average
Flowering period: June to July
Hardiness: fully hardy

The weeping stems of this graceful shrub are laden with a profusion of lightly scented bell shaped pink flowers in early summer. The foliage is attractive too, being relatively large and a rich green, but turning yellow in autumn before it drops. Use this in the shrub border and underplant with spring flowering bulbs and low growing perennials, or use it for adding height as you would a tree in smaller gardens.

Garden care: Choose a spot in the garden that is sheltered from cold winds. Cut back crossing or damage stems in late winter or early spring. Apply a generous mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in early spring
