Our day out at the tropical butterfly house and animal centre.

Emily and T went on a school trip to the Yorkshire wild life park so I decided Samuel and I would also have a day out as a treat. We decided on the tropical butterfly house and animal centre. The weather was beautiful all day and we had a great time. Samuel absolutely loved it in the butterfly house, it was hot and humid so we imagined we were on a tropical island…lol. ?☀️?.
Samuel was mostly in charge of the camera and he looked like David Bailey snapping away. ? Literally dozens of photos and most of them really good especially for a 4 yr old…here’s his record of our day…..with just a few of his photos (and mine when he would lend me the camera)
First we went to the barn where the goats, lamas, ducks, turkeys and sheep were waiting to be fed.

But Samuel was more interested in photographing the Peacock…..
We walked on to the large owl enclosures. Some of them were as big as space hopper.

Then on to the wildlife pond where he showed me what he was going to look for…

a bit disappointed there weren’t any frogs…..they had hopped it…

On to the Meercats and porcupine enclosure…

At this point he decided it was time we had lunch…it was only 11.15… No arguing with Samuel when he is hungry so we found a nice seat to sit on to enjoy half of our sandwiches..and a chocky bicky…
He wanted a photo of Grandma on the special seat with magical properties….( I was hoping it would take a few years off of me) sadly it didn’t work on grown ups. ?

Fed and watered we realised it was time for the Lemur encounter…

We were asked not to approach them but to allow them to jump onto your shoulders. Samuel wasn’t having any of that and spent most of the time photographing them from behind me, standing on the wall…
Then it was time to see the otters feeding..

As you can tell, Samuel is better with the camera than I am…so camera safely back in his hands we set off to find the new nature area. As we walked around the corner he noticed this….

We spent ages jumping across the pond via the stepping stones. Not a lot to see here yet as it’s very new.

He had a feel in the boxes ( more nerve than Grandma…lol )

Then into the tropical house, the place he really wanted to spend time.

A little bird fascinated Samuel and he kept feeding it with the fish food we bought from a dispenser near the pond. It only liked the green pellets though..the fish only got a few…lol

This frog looked as if it were made of porcelain…till it moved..

Time to get ready to leave now.

but first we just had to have a go on the racecourse…

The little man was asleep in the car before we reached the main road away from the centre. Bless him..a tired but contended little chap. Such good company too.. ?

Samuel has taken some really good photo's, he did you proud grandma and its obvious you both had a very enjoyable day, I wouldn't have anything on my shoulders either, little creatures are better at a distance to my way of thinking and I would also have gone behind you, lol...
Lovely blog thankyou for sharing your day....

Sorry Bloomer, I think I confused things by mentioning that T had gone with Emily on the school trip to the Yorkshire Wild Life Park while I took Samuel to the Tropical Butterfly House. They both enjoyed their day enormously too.
I enjoyed watching the parrots and the Falcons flying Dandanspond. I couldn't get Samuel to take any photos of them though, either in flight or in their enclosures. It will be lovely to take both of them again in the summer.
