Gardening for the future

I haven’t been able to keep up with my garden for some time so I have found someone to help me sort it out. Maybe I need it redesigned, so that it’s easier for me to look after now.
The lady who came is quite knowledgeable about plants, and that’s what I need. I haven’t got lawns and hedges to cut, just lots of plants, so someone who had some real gardening knowledge was essential.
She came last week and will be here again in 3 weeks time. We discussed several things that need changing, and she helped me tidy one of the perspex shelters by my old garage.
Roll on some warm sunny weather ! although I even find rain better than the dry cold winter we’ve just had, it’s so unnatural.

I agree what an excellent solution for you.
It will probably be a solution for me in the future.

Growing older is not much fun😟I now have a problem with my back and leg so I have a gardener to cut my lawns etc.

That sounds perfect for you Hywel, I don't mind admitting that I dread the time when I cannot do my garden...

The new gardener sounds like a find so I am sure your garden will soon be looking as you would wish, Hywel.

You will be much happier with a help from this knowledgeable lady Hywel.
Not only you'll get help with what you have but also another perspective on what you could do. Smart thing to do.
Hope it will work for you in a long run.

Great news Hywel. It’s wonderful, isn’t it, to look out at a newly tidied garden?! I ‘ve had the same treat this morning, seeing my terrific gardening friend getting down to all the things I can no longer do and making a real difference 🙂.

all the best with it Hywel, you have good knowledge also . Like to see how it all comes along

Help in the garden sounds a good solution. I think some better weather would help too. And as for myself a bit of self restraint wouldnt be a bad idea.

That's a good idea, Hywel! If the lady can help you sort out your garden so that you are happier with the outcome, what could be better!

Thank you all, I will let you know how it goes :)

Good for you Hywel, and it seems as though you have found someone very good, I will be looking to find someone soon to help also.

I hope you find someone suitable :)

Glad to hear you have found a good lady to help you, Hywel (though I didn’t know that you were having difficulty keeping up with your garden). We are all getting older! My neighbours help me if there is something too heavy for me to lift & I will need help lopping the Buddleia in the near future. Keep well.

Sounds just the perfect solution, Hywel. A bonus she is knowledgeable too, you’ll be feeling better knowing this.
A little bit of teamwork, you can still do what you can and continue to enjoy your garden with her help.

Thank you both ...
I'm glad you've got good neighbours Feverfew, I also have good neighbours and they are always willing to help, but they have no knowledge about plants at all.
I hope to have it rearranged a bit Kate, so that I won't need the help long-term.

Hywel, I have found that having a seat/bench in a couple of places in my small garden are a great help as I can stop to rest when I need to.
16 Mar, 2023
Thanks Shirley, I'll make sure I've got a few in my newly designed garden :)

I do the same Shirley_tulip and Hywel.I have several benches around but we have a large property so having a seat is a must but also pleasant.

Hywel, don't forget somewhere for Bella too!
16 Mar, 2023
The best places are already reserved for Bella Shirley :D
Glad to hear it Klahanie :)

Yes, stopping to rest is essential. I did that today, sitting in a comfortable chair in the greenhouse, but it was so comfortable that I fell asleep! Benches are probably more sensible …

I have only just found your blog Hywel as it didn't come up on my page.
I went into the other blogs and found yours.
I agree, it was a very sensible thing to do and you will probably enjoy your garden more when it isn't such hard work for you.
I will look forward to more pictures when it is all finished.
And don't forget to sit and enjoy it!

Oh dear Hywel, have I missed something? Have you been poorly? Keep an eye on your gardener. Mine seems to think pruning is cutting everything off neatly and level, so I will get no gooseberries yet again this year. I like my shrubs to look natural not like a park. Still must one grateful for any help at all as I can't do it any more... The Spring flowers have been a joy (still are) and I give thanks every time I look out of the window.
Its so good that you replaced your plant shelter last year - you will be able to enjoy your garden from there when you don't feel like doing anything yourself. Does Bella have a bed in there? Our cats are getting on much better than they did and often curl up together.

Stera, so glad to hear that your cats have settled down together. It took time I guess, but they got there! Any pics?

Thank you all :)
I'll show some pics after something has been done Rose
Steragram I am not unwell, it's just that the garden has got out of hand and is a lot of work to get it back looking tidy, so I got help, but it is only for this year.
I'm glad your cats are friends now ...

Hywel what a very wise decision. Our garden is bound to become too much for us to look after one of these days and I hope we can find someone to help us out and lend a hand with ideas as well as giving practical help.
Lots of luck with your new gardening friend.

Looking forward to that Hywel!

Thank you all :)
