Alexandramou:

I started these plants last summer. I was surprised how quickly and easily they germinated.

Where do you keep them in the winter? In your greenhouse? They look a little like the coffee tree leaves.

These plants were all by my plant table in the back yard, through winter. Even though, they're small they don't need to be put into my unheated greenhouse. The only plants I need to keep in my greenhouse all winter long are small papayas plants...they are very sensitive to excess moisture and coolness. If my small papayas plants get rained on in winter, they will inevitably die of rot (very fast).

Aha. I need to keep mine indoors when they are young, Yes?

It just depends how cool your weather gets in winter. The average morning lows here are around 50ºF/10ºC., in the coolest part of the year (Middle January). If your average high temps are lower than 66ºF/19ºC and morning lows go below 45ºF/7ºC. then small plants should be brought inside. I'm not sure what USDA Zone you're located in however, Markhamia lutea is zoned for 10B - 11. Most of the urban areas of San Diego are located in zone: 10B and 11 even though it doesn't show it on this map.
