Nicotiana glauca - Tree Tabacco

Nicotiana glauca - Tree Tabacco (Nicotiana glauca - Tree Tabacco)

This tree grows wild everywhere in California. It especially like to pop up along the driest soil along roadsides and freeways. Photo taken Sept. 9, 2011 in San Diego, CA. Posted for my friend Meanie.

Yes, this plant can grow almost to 30ft/10m tall. Typically, it stays around 20ft/6.1m tall, though.

Hi there Delonix,
I suppose it is not used as tobacco.
Tobacco is a short plant with huge leaves here.
Would you explain why does it have such a popular name?

Aleyna:

There's several species of Nocotiana (which is the tabacco genus).
