Escallonia 'Gold Ellen'

I've had an escallonia for years and years, but I'm trimming it hard back now, so no flowers. Are the leaves on yours aromatic? I love the scent of them.

I never even knew they had aromatic leaves...will need to check!

Thats good! Have you taken cuttings of them Annie? I took a cutting of this one for you but boy my shrub cuttings are taking an age to root!

I noticed you put variegated? we grow this but is is more yellow with pink flowers, there is a Gold Brian also.....

You're right, it doesn't appear to be variegated at all, but I'm sure it was when I planted it!....I'll look it up! I looked it up and some are variegated, some not, and it says it should have white flowers! Now I am confuddled! Here it is on Halcyon website where it says the variegation is stronger early in the year....

I am going to put a photo on of ours, but all the flowers have finished now....I would not mind buying a variegated one.

Yes, I went out and checked and the older leaves still have some variegation on them, but none in this photo A. I used to have Gold Brian. It was removed because it was in the wrong place years ago. it was nice though....very similar to this one if I remember rightly.
