This is one of two planted in Palm Canyon, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. It was planted last summer or fall...and is growing very well. Photo taken Aug. 21, 2012.

Yes, it's a very ornamental palm; however, ultra-tropical. This palms cannot grow everywhere in San Diego...as it's extremely sensitive to the slightest chill.

Yes, it would have to be grown in a warm to hot greenhouse. It needs a tremendous amount of heat to grow well.

Even though it a beautiful palm; it would be a lot of work there.
