Capsicum species - Chili Pepper

Capsicum species - Chili Pepper (Capsicum species)

This plant is in a pot. I used to have this Chili pepper plant in the ground. It grows to almost tree-like proportions...so, now it stays in a small pot. The peppers go from green to red and purple then black. Photo taken Jan. 14, 2013.

Lulu33:

The chili plants here in San Diego can grow very large and produce copious amounts of chili peppers all year.

Are these weet and do they have any heat to them?

This pepper will catch your mouth on fire!!! lol!
I rarely use them because they're so, so very HOT!

I like it as an ornamental because large plants remind me of Christmas trees. The peppers change from green to red, purple and then black.

I use one pepper for a whole big pot of chili beans. I can't tolerate spicy hot foods either.
