it looks like a good job well begun! how's it progressing?

LOL...hit a snag! I'm not as young as I used to be, we had a bit of rain, and I'm still working farther down stream on the rock wall...as well as thinning brush and taking down dead trees up the hill...I'm spread a bit too thin. BUT I'm still going out each day to do a bit at one or the other spot. Yesterday I cut down 12 trees...today I should have them all limbed and cut up. It's been dull and overcast the last two days and that doesn't serve to motivate me much but at least it's not frosty. ;-)

hell's bells, Lori, 12 trees??!!!! do you have a chainsaw, or just an axe? either way, that's an awesome job to do.

"Little and often" would probably be the best bet with the rocks; not so much at one time that you have to spend a couple of days recovering.

LOL... 12 trees sounds like I'm Paul Bunyan, doesn't it? they were not large trees, and some were dead already, but it sounds like I'm some kind of superduper woodswoman! Hardly the case. I have a lovely little chainsaw that works well on smaller trees and is very efficient for limbing. Sad part is that I've hardly scratched the surface. There are many more to remove and deadfalls to clear. Lots of work to do and my problem is lack of motivation. My Mom always told me to finish one job before starting the next, but if I did that I'd really feel unproductive. this way I see a little progress in a lot of places and like a carrot before the horse, it keeps me going"!

I have a bit of the same thing myself - got half a dozen jobs going at any one time, and little apparent prgoress on each. i know that if i concentrated on one at a time, that one at least would go faster, but nothing would be happening to the others, and when I'd done it, that's only one tiny bit done - doing lots of things means that if |I don't feel like doing one I can do another, and each gets better a bit at a time, and when [when!] I've doen there's a whole lot of improvement.

Motivation is the hard bit, isn't it? one would think that having a nice home or garden would be motivation enough, but it's not always. I try to set myself small targets: gat A done by X - no one will know if I succeed or not, only me.

But then I've not got as much of a job in the garden as you do! Even small trees sounds like hard work. And shifting them afterwards ...

I like having a few jobs on the go. If i stay doing the same thing all day my back aches so i do a bit of this and then a bit of that. By the looks of it you get things done Lori.

I'm smiling here ... the weather has become cold and windy and all my plans for progress have hit a snag that is totally unrelated to gardening. I went to a factory sale for kitchen cabinets in Renfrew (nearest town) and bought some new cabinets for my kitchen. Now I have to concentrate on indoor work for a while..floor first...then a new sink cabinet and the lovely island cabs that I bought. I can't wait for it to be done but I'm going to have to! Our Thanksgiving holiday is this Monday, and that means lots of cooking and visiting and family and eating!! think I'll relax and enjoy. Back to work next week.

Happy Thanksgiving Lori, enjoy your family and have a rest, get the young uns to do the washing up!!!
I am planning a whole load of inside jobs for the winter too. been out to buy paint this morning

Oh, a trip to the paint store, that's exciting. I have 2 gallons of kitchen and bathroom paint waiting for me to get motivated. Thanks Sandra we had a lovely week end. Our youngest, Michael, had his birthday last week and we had his company for about four days. We ate, and ate, and ate...and slept! The kids really notice the quiet and the fresh air acts like a sedative.
