Terra, I think it is, but I have never seen any part o it red. Maybe when it is young.It has a milky "sap/latex" when cut which is apparently very toxic. The owner of this place has 2 trees like this:

I think this is about 12 feet tall.

I've just looked at the link ... these plants grow quite large don't they... the hummingbird doesn't appear worried that it might come into contact with sap ...

It is a great tree for birds. Very dense. We have dozens other birds hiding in it. Great place to sit near by and bird watch. It is a close to our swimming pool and they use it as a jump off spot for a dip. Birds use our swimming pool more than we do. It is not so hot for me to jump in it...so I am glad that some one enjoys it :-)
