Thank you Stera..I love those colours too..I like something bright,interspersed with White...I wasn't expecting my old Lavender to rally this year,as I cut it really hard back,and into hard wood at some points..just what we are told not to do..but,as you can see ,it completely refused to comply ! :o)

That's interesting about the Lavender. I am always scared to cut mine too hard. But it is very woody at the base. I think it will need to be replaced next year.

I would go for it,Karen,as some of the really old woody bits in the centre,I took out completely,and just left the ones with the smallest signs of life on them..I expected it to look bare in the centre,when it started growing again,but it's filled in nicely..It took it's time to get going again,but I'm glad I gave it a chance,as I almost dug it up..

Well I did think that when I read your comment Sandra, but I have to remember I don't have the length of season for recovery here...or the warmth. My lavender is nowhere near ready to flower yet.

Ah,I see Karen..I keep forgetting how far north you are..I must admit,mine was quite a while before it recovered ..are you surprised after that haircut ? Lol

Your border looks great. Love the different colours and the plants this year seem to have so many blooms too. I cut my Lavender back hard after the flowers have finished. I cut to where there is a slight showing of leaves on the bush. I just leave a little growth on the ends. They do tend to go woody after a few years though. I have taken cuttings in the past with success.

Thank you Lindak..yes,that's what I do,and it does look like a dead bush for ages..but worth taking a chance..It's the first time I've cut it so hard back..I shall take cuttings too as it's at least 15 years old now,but looks like quite good for it's age :o)
