A giant African Violet! (Chirita)

Well,a relative. Chirita 'Chastity' Its about 13-14 years old. I ordered it form Logee's as a wee plant never guessing it could grow so large. Its not at peak bloom..I can post it again later.

Streptocarpus, right? I used to have a lot of those outside growing when I lived in Hayward. They love Haywards' nice mild subtropical climate! :>)) I know it's a close relative to African Violets.

You can actually water the leaves. The water must be around 90ºF to water the whole plant. I used water my mom's African Violets for her I would let the warm water run over the plants. If the water is cool or cold it will spot the leaves very badly.

Every time I ve watered from the top which goes over the leaves they have died.

No,this is a Chirita. Its just something I spotted in Loggee's catalogue around 2002 or so. I did think it was a small plant. I had kept it in a small pot until one day my wife planted it in that big pot. To my surprise- it GREW..BIG.
Mostly blooms in fall.

Oh wow! That's a beautiful plant! I'm not familiar with this genus. It does look a lot like an African Violet.
