Clematis tangutica silky seed heads

Clematis tangutica silky seed heads

These should stay on through the Winter. I cut the Clematis down to 6" above the ground in the Spring.

That is so pretty. They reflect so much light! I have a few on mine too, but yours are lovely.

Lovely display of seed heads there. We've had to dig up some of our climbing plants as the fence needs replacing, and hopefully someone is coming to do that soon.

Thanks Lindak, hope your fencing work is carried out before too long.

Thanks Amy ... I was going to try layering some stems but completely forgot to do so! I wonder if they would form roots through the Winter into Spring if I did it tomorrow ... probably not!

You can't lose anything by trying Shirley our winters are not so cruel these days if you cover the layered parts they may well 'take '

Aren't they pretty, love them....

Thanks Dotty ... not looking so good on this dull day though.

I wonder if you could pick them and spray them for Christmas decorations.....

26 Nov, 2018

Hmm, they have lost that lustrous shine now and look a bit dull. They may possibly be too lightweight to take a coating of spray paint ... good plan though!

I will enjoy your silken tresses, as mine were all soggy and sorry looking, so pruned the plant right down.
