Hydrangea 'Red Angel' The final flower

Hydrangea 'Red Angel' The final flower (Hydrangea macrophylla (Hortensia))

For sheer length of flowering period Hydrangeas are hard to beat. This one is named for it's red foliage rather than its flowers. They are red in the summer, but they turn pinker as they age. It's a really lovely plant.

Thanks Kate. Its amazing how they change. When they come out in the summer they are dark red in the early weeks and as they fade they go pink like this. But this one has opened pink. I suppose because it is colder now.

Thanks Janey, yes, this one is beautiful all year. The leaves are dark red when young, turning greener with age.

Angela...that's great news. You've had your rain just in time!
