Seagulls near Arundel Castle

Seagulls near Arundel Castle

Loved the way they perched on this gate for a spot of preening!

It's a nice scene, Shirley!

Even though we live more than 100 miles from the coast we hear as many seagulls here as when we were in Great Yarmouth the last 2 years! I've said to my wife on several occasions over the years we have lived here that lying in bed you could be forgiven for thinking we were at the seaside instead of a 100 miles in land! We always get more of them when the wind has an eastern component to it.

We have a Seagull coming in to our garden daily, it has one good leg but the other one is at right angles to his/her body. Born that way or attacked/injured I would guess. It copes very well and has landed almost as soon as bread crumbs are thrown!

we have Seagulls in our small garden. They settle on the river Derwent down the road in the winter. There are a hundred at least down there.

I like to see them, but I know many folk who consider them pests!

I say that the wildlife have a place amongst us as we have taken away a lot of their space on this planet. If anything we are damaging the planet almost beyond repair.
