Alstroemerias

Lovely Shirley..I bought some at Xmas ,they lasted for ages.

Lovely flowers. Lots of years ago when we lived on the I.O.Wight I worked in glasshouse, and when I first went there they grew these flowers with roses, carnations and chrysanthemums.

… and they last a long time too! Very pretty.

I love these,Shirley,and I find they are long lasting too. I have Carnations at the moment,also from a' cheapie 'Supermarket,so I will look out for some of these,when mine have finished .. I've already had then for two weeks,and still no signs of dying off yet ,so it couldd be a while ..:o)

It is so lovely to have some fresh flowers in the house. Yours look very pretty and show that spring has arrived.

Don't we just yearn for some colour now, Shirley.

I rarely buy flowers for the house (OH does sometimes) but these look great so I’ll look out for them 🙂.

Sheila, these were half the price of the ones in our usual supermarket.

Alstromerias are one of my favourite flowers, especially as they last a long time in the house.

Rose, I kow you grow/have grown them, can you tell me if slugs and snails like to munch on them please?

Lovely. I been buying daffodils, cheap, but they only last a week. I’ll look for these next time. Good to have ‘spring’ in the house.

Josie, the price can vary a lot from one supermarket to another, so be aware!

Nothing seems to affect them Shirley.
Best to buy them as young plants as I have never tried to grow them.

Rose, I thought we had shared a chat about Alstromerias on GoY some time ago and you said I should get some for my garden! Have I muddled you up with another GoYer, or lost the plot completely?!!
