The Stumpery

Husband and I just took a four day break away and were pleasantly surprised to find a stumpery within the grounds of the sixteenth century hotel.
Please walk through the woodland area with us …
Ladybird larvae on Stinging Nettles …
I wish my garden log pile looked as good as theirs!

Lovely walk in the woods Shirley. Thanks for sharing this.
We have just been to Norfolk and decided to take my hubby for a walk through the woods which led out to a river. Big mistake ! I didn't realise after the bark path disappeared , it was an up and down hill struggle with stones and pebbles, but I persevered which was worth the walk , but then had the long walk back!!

How lovely, I too wish mine looked like that, guess you have to have ownership to an ancient wood to create a stumpery like that Shirley, us mere mortals have to look longingly and dream, lol...Glad you enjoyed your few days..

It was lovely and peaceful Balcony ...
Rose, that must have been exhausting for you, well done for not giving up!
That made me smile Sue, the grounds to this Grade 1 Listed Tudor manor (built in the mid-1500s) are enormous with Deer in one area ... no shortage of dead or diseased wood for the stumpery.

What a super woodland walk Shirley. I particularly liked the seat. Where were you? I bet you feel much better after your little break. We all need something to enjoy in these dreadful times.

I have to confess to looking this up on Google Shirley. It looks wonderful! I am now trying to convince Richard it's not that far to drive, for a winter break...when they let us out of lock down (sigh!)

A lovely woodland walk Shirley. The first photo is beautiful,
very calming, the security of a tree that has stood the test of time, through wars and pandemics.. We need to be near them Shirley, to keep us grounded.
