Magnolia grandiflora 'Exmouth'

I had to have this.
My home town is Exmouth in Devon where magnolias were first grown in the UK. There is a clone of magnolia grandiflora named 'Exmouth' - it takes pride of place in the middle of the back garden.
Over 20 years old now, it has reached over 15 feet and flowers every year. Each flower only lasts a few days but there one or two blooms fully open for a couple of months at least and they smell of lemon. The leaves are evergreen and have a brown felt on the reverse. More often seen as a wall shrub, I am growing this as a free-standing tree

Have you ever visited the southern US, Andrewr? If you get the chance make sure to visit one of the older botanical gardens and see these trees. They are very popular because the leaves stay green year round.

They are also native to southeast USA

Hello! I have been searching tirelessly to find magnolias for sale in SE United States. I live in pennsylvania and truly have my heart set on them for my wedding bouquet. Would you happen to know a way to find them locally? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you for your time!

Liz M think you might have trouble finding these unless you are getting married when the Magnolias are in bloom ? Maybe try a grower in Holland, search the internet, or ask your local florist of the possibilities, also would you consider silk magnolia?, Not the same at all but they can look so real, especially if you cannot find real ones anyway you could mix them with other fresh flowers! I wish you good luck and hope your day goes well.

I have had a Magnolia for around 3 years now. It doesn't act as an evergreen, it drops it's leaves in autumn and it hardly grows. It's only about 18cm tall. Are there different types of Magnolia, ie miniature?

There are lots of different types of Magnolia Carole. You could look them up by clicking on "M" at the bottom of the page and scrolling down a bit to find the list of plants. There are 27 entries for Magnolias.

THIS IS A GRAND SIGHT INDEED. MAGNOLIAS ARE SUCH FRAGRANCE-RICH FLOWERS! I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED ROW A MAGNOLIA TREE. I HAD PLANTED ONE AND IT GAVE ONE FLOWER. AFTER THAT---NOTHING. IT DIED AFTER SIX YEARS.
