Poke Berry

Non-edible berries. Used to make inks, paints, pigments, dyes, etc. Had some use in making pharmaceuticals.

Is this the one that the indigenous american people use as a purgative? It has beautiful berries!

Karen- yes, this is the one. Will definitely cause you to 'toss your cookies' :) The cardinals, mockingbirds & starlings feast on these like nobody's business. They aren't affected by the toxins.

Wells - It's considered a tenacious weed. It has a deep taproot which will regrow if not eradicated completely. It gets about 8 feet tall. It's also called 'Ink Berry' which stains everything it touches. I like how it screens out my neighbor.
