Ants on Bamboo
By Venezeula

I have ants on my bamboo plant which is in a border they are also on nearby plants too. Could anyone suggest a chemical free way of getting rid of them that won't harm my plants. Thanks

If the plants are growing near to or under a shrub or tree they might be getting the honeydew on them from the aphids in the tree or shrub too so check all around for the greenfly or blackfly (or brownfly). You can spray the aphids with soapy water to kill them or, if you prefer, you can use a commercial spray of insecticidal soap or which contains pyrethrins.

Thanks for advice i have noticed green fly too i will try the soapy water first and if that doesn't work will go down the chemical route.

If they're all over plants, that's usually because the plants are infested with aphids, which the ants are "herding" to collect the honeydew. If this is what's happening (you'll see loads of aphids, either black or greenfly, on the plants) spray to get rid of the aphids.
