how far apart do these need to be planted? I've been told that they will not do well together? Is this true? I'm stuck and scared to plant them all together..........help

have just found answer to that question myself and they need to be planted at least 24in/60cm apart. hope this is of some help to you.

I don't grow veggies, but my neighbour does. She plants melons on top of a heap of compost so that they can scramble down happily. This heap is about one metre away from other plants. I don't know about Squash, she doesn't grow that, but Cucumbers are across the other side of her patch with runner beans in between. I will try to see her and ask why but that is what an experienced gardener has done. Hope it helps a bit.
