Does anyone have any tips on growing Stipa Gigantia? I want a nice ornamental grass to give some height and interest to my garden and this seems to fit the bill. Thanks in advance.

Thank you Derek! I have just the right spot for it based on that advice. Much appreciated.

This is my favourite grass. The only thing I would bear in mind is to avoid planting in a windy spot. The flowering stems on mine were bent in half by the winds last year.

Thanks Dawnsaunt - we're quite sheltered so that shouldn't be a worry.

I only cut off the flowering stems in spring - the dead leaves can be pulled or combed out - I wouldn't cut them. This grass needs space to look its best. It's beautiful all year round, but especially in the late summer/autumn.

This grows in moderately fertile, medium to light soil, well drained and in full sun, as this 1 is evergreen, {or semi evergreen} you should cut off any dead leaves in early spring, they're usually trouble free, Derek.
