What can I treat alkaline soil with to make it more acidic?

Asked from the GoYpedia acid soil plants page

Answers

it might be easier to chose non acid loving plants. or if you have a specimen like a camellia then water the area around the plant with sequestrine which acidifies the soil around the plant.
leaf mould from oak and beech are acidic so you could also mulch around specimen plants that way.
please avoid using peat as it is an 'ancient habitat' and to precious to waste.
