ID please. I have been scattering seed and haven't been keeping a very good record. Can anyone say if these seedlings are weeds or hopefully something like Larkspur?

Could they be ground ivy do you think?

Think Larkspur is more feathery.

Those look like Geum seedlings....probably the wild one which plagues my garden at work.

I thought geum or perhaps one of the wild geranium. having said that what I sowed hoping are holly hocks look a little like these too.

It could be a wild geranium - it looks like one in my garden that has purple flowers (a name something like William Morris, but that doesn't seem quite right).

Looks like ground ivy to me too. It isn't larkspur.

Just been outside to compare both. The leaves do look more like ground ivy than geum but not sure now about they way they look at ground level - g.i. tends to be a bit chunkier?
Anyway it that's what it is you'll soon know as it doesn't take it long to flower and spread...

If its a geranium I hope its a nice one!

Having turned the laptop upside down to look at photo properly I don't think it is ground ivy

You're right, it's not Ground Ivy; not Larkspur; not Geum; definitely not Geranium. Can you post another photo when the seedlings have developed a little more, please?

Hi, ground ivy, [ Glecoma hederacea ] is a member of the mint family, and will have square stems, if it's geum macrophyllum, it's a member of the rose family, with fuzzy stems, Derek.

I think you could be right Derek

Thanks everyone. I thought I knew my plants but had never heard of ground ivy, and think you may be right. I don't actually remember sowing any seed in this particular patch. I will let one or two grow and will show you the results.

I think it is the young growth of Alliaria petiolata (garlic mustard). I have it growing around too. I always hope for the best but usually find out I have weeds :-(

The leaves also look a bit like Mimulus.
