I was watching a recording of a gardener who had a dozen potatoes which he cut up ( describing the process) and ended with 40, all of which he said would make great plants. Was he right ? Is this a good idea ?

In theory, yes, but only as long as each section has an 'eye' from which growth can come.

Also depends on type of potato in question. Some give a better yield than others. One of my faves - Yukon Golds.

Hi Hank, it depends on the size of the potato, all you actually need is 2 or 3 'eyes', and you will get decent sized plants, Derek.
