If I plant some sweet peas now ( as recommended by Monty every year) will they germinate in an unheated greenhouse or would they need to remain indoors on a windowsill?

Don't forget to pinch the growing tips out if they start becoming 'leggy' and drawn so they bush up.

Thanks to both of you for your helpful advice.
I planted them today and they are now in the greenhouse. Monty said that by planting them early their roots will be stronger so I hope to see an improvement! This year my sweet peas were very disappointing - short stems and small flowers.

Good luck with them Chris!

I usually start mine off about now and they are in the unheated greenhouse. Keep barely moist or they will rot off. I put mine under fine mesh to keep hungry mice out!

Sbg, I will keep them covered up as we do have a problem with mice in the greenhouse in winter - they have eaten my bulbs in previous years! Thank you.

I have sown seeds of Sweet Peas in November, they have germinated and grown on in my unheated greenhouse. They don't need mollycoddling!
