Prunus Beni chidori … my Japanese apricot tree flowered in our old garden, but here, after 4years, no sign of any buds. Is there anything I can do to encourage its pretty blossom?

Thanks Jimmy, yes I will have a look. It’s just strange that it hasn’t bloomed over the past three years …

The other thing you might try is to give it several feeds during the Summer of Sulphate of Potash alone to give its flowering potential a boost.

The apricot tree is absolutely covered in buds, (as is Prunus Tai haku and Prunus chocolate ice) but that may just mean leaves … 🙁.

Perhaps your tree has been affected by the frosts and the emerging buds have been burned away. Have a close look which might give you the answer. I haven't seen any blossom on Prunus species where I live except Prunus Spinosa, the common Blackthorn so it might be a bit too early this year.
