Fiary Rings on Lawn

I have 'fairy rings' with mushrooms growing on my lawn again this year - I have tried everything I can think of including really strong disinifectant, taking up lawn to a depth of about 6 inches and returfing and digging down and taking a blow torch to the trail of silver lines which I assume are the root system - can anyone help me with the problem - I think it is probably where the previous occupant built the extension and buried rubble but am not sure - any help to just improve the appearance of the lawn would be really appreciated - thanks a lot - Christine.

We have had this question a number of times. I cannot understand why people want to get rid of them. I think they add to the charm of a garden and they only last for a brief time. We used to get them and now I am sad that they don't appear any more! Anyway the soil is full of thousands of different types of fungal mycelia (threads) many of which improve the soil and help the growth of plants.

We had fairy rings one year. I actually loved them, took photos of the children sat in the middle of them and they never reappeared. Must be magic!
